The Kingdom and the Compounding Factor - A Call to Churches Churches provide the framework for meaningful communities in so many ways; Strong biblical values lead to meaningful support for individuals in hard economic and political times. Principle based churches encourage sustainability through a generational perspective within the community. Churches are often the oldest and most prominent organizations with a city or county. Their broad based, intergenerational membership is a great community asset. Every church has some understanding of itself and of its role in the community, as well as its role in the larger state and national context. If this is not clear however, the leadership should establish such an understanding with the utmost urgency. Churches may have a history of working together and creating social capital to serve the community as a whole - or they may not! Either affects the way a community historically pursues change and overall unity. As Disciples of Jesus Christ, we have the Keys to the Kingdom of God. You and I as believers have the Keys to the Kingdom. As we share the revealed Christ with others through the power of the Holy Spirit, we benefit our local communities through subtle foundational progress that will allow for spiritual growth at a grassroots level. The bible clearly outlines the mandate to bring the Kingdom to our local communities; (Acts 1: the lost are able to glimpse a spiritual revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Mat 4:23) And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. (Mat 9:35) And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. (Mat 24:14) And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. (Mar 1:14) Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, (Mar 1:15) And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. |
